Piet was born in 1972 in Othava, part of the Sabi Sand Reserve, South Africa.
He attended school in rural villages with exotic names like Utlha and Hluvukani where many residents still enjoy a traditional way of life. After finishing high school, Piet became a tracker at a lodge in 1993, and he was appointed as a guide seven months later – a position he still proudly holds today. He qualified himself by means of correspondence courses and has reached FGASA Level II trails guide and he has since undergone more training, specifically in rifle training.
Piet strives to share fascinating local knowledge while guiding guests on bush walks and is quick to point out photo opportunities. He enjoys giving his perspective on the history of South Africa, its people and culture and has a keen interest in soccer, running, movies, reading books and keeping up to date with world news.
