Head Guide, Sabi Sand

Mark Broodryk

Head Guide, Sabi Sand

Mark has been guiding for over 17 years, 15 at Singita.

Despite fond memories of holidays in game reserves with his father pointing out constellations at night, his vocation was not initially clear and he obtained a National Diploma in Forestry at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. But he gave up a promising career to become a guide in Botswana and when Singita acquired a private concession in Kruger National Park, he seized the opportunity – even helping to acclimatize lions to human presence. He was promoted to Head Guide and later transferred to Sabi Sand Reserve.

Mark appreciates Singita’s sensitivity to the environment and lists an elephant giving birth as his best sighting to date. His qualifications include FGASA level 3 with special skills in dangerous game and birding, as well as a tracker level 3.

He is blessed with a beautiful wife and twin boys.
