JP le Roux

Field Guide, Kruger National Park

JP grew up in Gordon’s Bay, a coastal village close to Cape Town, South Africa.

Having the mountains and coastline as his playground, exposed him to the unique beauty of the Cape Floral Kingdom and it was here that his curiosity ignited his love of nature. His interest in culture, wildlife and birds motivated him to travel all over southern Africa, the Caribbean, UK, Tanzania and Hong Kong and he considers it a huge privilege that he has been able to work as a professional field guide, trainer and assessor for the past 18 years. He is intrigued by ecosystems and shy species such as birds, reptiles, amphibians and smaller mammals.

Because he admires Singita’s ethos of caring for the environment and communities, he joined their team in the Kruger National Park in 2016, ready to improve his skills and learn from his fellow guides and trackers.
